NORTH ATTLEBORO - Dave McLean scored on a wild pitch with one out in the bottom of the ninth inning to send the North Attleboro High baseball team to a hard-fought 10-9 victory in nine innings in a non-league game at Community Field on Thursday night.
The Bombardiers held a 9-5 lead heading into the bottom of the sixth inning before the Rocketeers scored three times to close the gap to one at 9-8. North Attleboro then tied the game with a run in the bottom of the seventh. Jeff Purdum singled and was knocked home on a long RBI triple to right center field by Chad Lareau with two outs.
Attleboro had a chance to take the lead in the top of the eighth inning. With a runner on third base and one out, the next batter hit the ball to second base. North Attleboro retired the runner at first with the first baseman then throwing home to get the double play, ending the inning.
In the bottom of the ninth, McLean walked and went to second base on a wild pitch. He then stole third and came home on a wild pitch with one out to score the winning run.
The Rocketeers took an early 4-0 lead after scoring four times in the bottom of the second inning. Attleboro responded with one run in the top of the third to make it 4-1 before North regained its four-run advantage with a run in the bottom of the third.
The Bombardiers appeared to take control of the game, scoring three runs in the fourth and five in the six for a 9-5 lead before the Rocketeers made their comeback to force extra innings.

Foxboro 7, Stoughton 6
FOXBORO - The Foxboro Warriors rallied from a five-run deficit, finally taking the lead with a four-run fifth inning rally, to topple the Black Knights in a Hockomock League game.
But that lead and victory was not asserted until a bizarre sequence of events ended the game. Foxboro shortstop Chip Rodenbush cut down a Stoughton runner at the plate on a relay to catcher Brad White. On the same play, White then fired to Greg Tympanick, the Warrior second baseman, to cut down another Stoughton runner.
Foxboro's victory denied veteran Stoughton coach Bob Ashley, a Norton resident, of his 400th career victory.
Mike Pyne belted four of Foxboro's 11 hits, while Kevin McCarthy had a pair. In erasing a 5-3 deficit in the fifth inning, Foxboro used three hits and two walks to score. Rodenbush drew a walk, then Pyne and McCarthy followed with RBI-doubles.
After Greg Tympanick drew a walk, Brad White slapped a two-run single.
Foxboro got on the scoreboard in the third inning with Pyne having an RBI-triple and scoring on a McCarthy base hit. The Warriors added another run in the fourth as Stephon Neville singled and eventually scored on a Paul Knox base hit.
Errors (six overall) undermined Foxboro starting senior pitcher Daryl Jeannetti as Stoughton scored three runs in the first inning on just one hit and two more in the third, also with just one hit. Jeannetti finished with seven strikeouts for his fourth win.
