Foxboro Relay for Life continues to make strides

Top Headlines "Amazing Grace" belted over loudspeakers as participants in the Relay for Life of Greater Foxboro finished up the two-day event that raised just under $153,500 for the American Cancer Society. "So, how'd we do? Well, every year we do a little bit better," said Bill Meehan, one of the event's three co-chairs, during a closing ceremony. "I want to ask you folks, did you have a good time? So, you'll be back? If you'll be back, so will we." Foxboro's fourth annual Relay brings the three-week area Relay total to just under $791,000 raised for the fight against cancer. Meehan said Foxboro's event gets better every year. "We had the challenge of rain on Friday night, as we always seem to," he said. "An event like this always has glitches, but it was good. I was here at 2:30 a.m....people really get into this project and they take it very seriously." About 600 walkers - and some runners - took part in the event. Rain had forced the ceremonial survivors walk - which kicks off the Relay - indoors, but nothing, organizers said, could have spoiled the event's spirit.
