Local man drowns in Florida

The body of a 36-year-old Plainville resident was found floating in the Gulf of Mexico Saturday in Naples, Fla., the result of an apparent drowning, Naples police said.

Corey David Webb was identified by Naples police as the victim.

A person on the beach observed his body in the ocean about 4:30 p.m. and brought Webb ashore, Naples police said.

Paramedics arrived and administered CPR but were unable to revive Webb, police said.

Naples police asked Plainville police for help in locating a next of kin, but they were unable to. "The victim had lived here temporarily, three or four years," Plainville Sgt. David Simmons said. "He wasn't a long-term town resident."

The victim may have lived in Attleboro at one time, Simmons said.

Naples police said Monday night they were uncertain whether a family member had been contacted.

Investigators are waiting for results from an exam of the body by the Collier County Medical Examiner to determine the exact cause of death. Police, however, say they don't suspect foul play.

No other information could be learned about Webb as of press time Monday night.
