BASKETBALL

Sarah Behn Basketball Camp: Sarah's Preseason, shooting and fundamentals instruction camps for girls at four Massachusetts locations for six Sundays from Oct. 14-Nov. 18. Registration for Attleboro Youth Basketball will be held Sept. 16 and 23 from 6 to 7 p.m. at Attleboro High School gymnasium lobby; Sunday night registration sessions are for elementary school and middle school recreation league players; cost of the elementary league $55 per player, with a discount for families with more than two players; $65 registration fee for middle school players; registration for the recreation leagues may also be done by mail; deadline for mail-in registrations is Sept. 28. HOCKEY

NESHL fall-winter adult hockey leagues forming: Players and teams are needed for all levels of play and ages for the New England Senior Hockey League, which offers fall-winter leagues starting in Sept. and Oct. Tri County Saints is a non-profit youth hockey organization providing quality, affordable hockey in the Taunton area for over 20 years. The Saints organization is the proud recipient of the Mass Hockey Program of the Year Award for the 2006-7 season, based on our commitment to providing the best hockey program at reasonable costs. The Saints are now accepting applications for our House and Learn to Skate/Play Programs online at www.tricountysaints.com. The hockey season begins in September and runs through April 2007 and costs less than $10 an hour. The Tri County Saints Programs are geared towards both teaching and developing hockey skills to players of all ages. We have certified coaches and instructors at all levels and practice jerseys are provided. Our instructional programs provide quality skating instruction with high school hockey coach Steve Folan, as well as provide the basics of hockey in a supportive environment for all ages on Saturdays. The Tri County Saints House league takes place on weekends only and is for those children age 10 and under who want to learn about hockey and have fun playing the game. It will be Attleboro Youth Soccer and Attleboro High School night at the stadium on Route 1 in Foxboro. Game time is 7:30 p.m., and tickets are $25, including tailgating party (food and drink). SOFTBALL

Strike Zone Shock U16 Fastpitch Softball team is looking for dedicated softball players born in 1991-1993 for the 2007-2008 season.The Shock is a highly competitive travel team that competes in eight to 10 tournaments throughout New England including College Showcase tournaments and National tournaments each year. Open tryouts for the 2008 Shock team will be held at the Attleboro High School fields on Saturday and Sunday as well as the weekend of September 8. South Attleboro Girls' Recreation Association (SAGRA) has starting accepting registrations for the fall basketball season. You can download a copy of the registration from their website at www.sagra.org. All registrations need to be in by Sept 15.

Rhode Island Lightning Fastpitch Softball Organization will hold tryouts for its 2008 teams on August 26 at the Mount Pleasant Little League Fields, Mount Pleasant Avenue, Providence. Registration for 12U & 14U pitchers and catchers begin at 8:30 a.m., tryouts start at 9 a.m. infielders, outfielders register at 9:30 a.m. and tryouts begin at 10 a.m. Registration for 16U and 18U pitcher and catchers begin at 12:30 p.m., tryouts begin at 1 p.m. infielders, outfielders register at 1:30 p.m. and tryouts begin at 2 p.m. Player eligible to play 12U, 14U, 16U, and 18U are encouraged to attend. Players are to be accompanied by an adult and have proof of health insurance and a copy of their birth certificate. The R.I. Lightning is a highly competitive fastpitch travel organization fielding teams to compete in PONY, ASA, and NSA tournaments throughout the Northeast. Sahara Foundation Charity Tennis Tournament to Benefit Breast Cancer Research will be held at Slater Memorial Park in Pawtucket, R.I. on September 22 and 23 with the rain dates being October 6 and 7. Hockomock Area YMCA's North Attleboro branch, 300 Elmwood St., has a variety of fall sports leagues for children, teens, and adults. The focus of all leagues is on encouraging activity, building skills, practicing good sportsmanship and teamwork, and having fun. The following leagues are available: Basketball leagues for youth, teens, and adults; Youth Soccer League; Dodgeball leagues for teens and adults; Friday Night Co-Ed Flag Football League; and Co-Ed Volleyball League.
