TAUNTON - Shamrock leading scorer Kyle Morrissey doubled his goal output for the season with a hat trick, sparking the The Bishop Feehan boys' soccer team to 5-0 Eastern Athletic Conference shutout victory over Coyle-Cassidy Tuesday.

Morrissey scored twice in the first half as Bishop Feehan jumped out to a 2-0 lead, then he potted his third of the game in the second half, giving him six goals for the season. Paul Galvin and Tyler Martin also added goals for the Shamrocks, who have put together back-to-back wins. Dan Galvin had a hat trick of his own - of the assist variety - while Mike Doherty added a helper.

Bishop Feehan goalie Matt Sears needed to make just four saves for his third shutout of the season. Doherty, in addition to getting on the scoresheet with the assist, did a nice job controlling the middle.

The Shamrocks (4-2-2) travel to play Bishop Connolly on Monday.

ATTLEBORO - The Bombardiers deserved a goal during the first 40 minutes of play in its match with Bridgewater-Raynham - but didn't get in.

Based upon their effort, the Bombardiers deserved a point too - but didn't get it.

"We're that far away," motioned Attleboro High coach Peter Pereira in inches of the difference between winning, losing and tying matches thus far, after the Bombardiers suffered a 2-0 setback at the feet of the Trojans in an Old Colony League match.

AHS outshot B-R 6-1 in the first half and had a 3-1 advantage in corner kicks, but could not beat Trojan junior goalie Tyler Letourneau.

And they couldn't do it in the second half either, what with three more shots and four more corner kicks.

After B-R (2-1-1) gained the go-ahead goal at the seven-minute mark of the first half, the Bombardiers were inches away from gaining the equalizer - Tyreek Summerville having a low 22-yard drive smothered in the 50th minute, then a header sail wide right in the 53rd minute; Stephan Lima scorching a 20-yarder wide to the right in the 71st minute; and Lien Than having a right-footed blast sail just over the bar in the 80th minute.

And then pressing forward, the Bombardiers (1-3-2) got caught in a counter as B-R's Matt Zingg deposited a right-footed shot to the left corner in the 78th minute.

"We played okay in the first half, it was one of our better passing halves," added Pereira. "But, the 50-50 balls, we can't win. We're not hungry enough."

B-R took the lead on a glaring AHS defensive miscue, a giveaway deep on Bombardier soil which Tom Mullen stuck past Bombardier goalie Sean Winborne at 6:54.

The Trojans, who hardly put much pressure on AHS starting goalie Adam Martin (before suffering a slight concussion in the 37th minute), nearly had a 3-0 lead in the first 10 minutes of the second half as Drew Larsen banged a ball off the crossbar at 44 and Matt Goodell missed by inches in the 48th minute.
The Bombardiers visit Xaverian Thursday for a non-league match.
