Convict faces child porn charges

ATTLEBORO - Police have charged a city man, currently in prison in Rhode Island on narcotics charges, with possession of child pornography in an ongoing investigation.

Joseph S. Tabishesky II, 31, allegedly had seven video clips of prepubescent and teenaged girls and boys engaged in sex acts with each other and adult males downloaded into his computer.

The computer was one of two seized by police in March from the basement of his Bourne Avenue home along with $32,200 in cash and jewelry kept inside a safe belonging to Tabishesky.

Police allege the cash was earned from Tabishesky's drug trafficking activity. The cash was seized by federal authorities who are seeking to have the proceeds forfeited to the government.

The computers were forensically analyzed with the assistance of a Norwood police detective with technological expertise. The investigation is being conducted by Attleboro detectives Lt. John Otrando, Timothy Cook Sr., Richard Campion and James Cote.

Tabishesky is currently an inmate at the Adult Correctional Institution in Cranston, R.I., for narcotics trafficking charges and was in prison at the time they raided his home at 9 Bourne Ave.

He will be arraigned in Attleboro District Court at a later date on seven counts of possession of child pornography after his release from prison, according to police.

Each charge carries a maximum penalty of five years in prison and a $10,000 fine upon conviction.

Tabishesky's lawyer could not be reached for comment Thursday.

The investigation began in March after police received information from Tabishesky's ex-wife.

Police obtained a search warrant and searched Tabishesky's home with the assistance of a Walpole police officer assigned to the New England Electronic Crimes Task Force.

Police, according to court records, confiscated two desktop computers from the basement allegedly belonging to Tabishesky.

The girls allegedly depicted on the videos, according to court records, were estimated to range in age from 7 to 16.

Their identities are unknown and a high school in Kentucky is shown in one of the videos, according to court records.
