(Staff photo by Mark Stockwell) Attleboro girls edged in finale ATTLEBORO - Amanda Aguiar scored a goal with 3:30 remaining in the match as the Durfee High girls' soccer team edged Attleboro, 2-1, in a non-league match on Tuesday afternoon. The Hilltoppers held a 1-0 advantage at the half, scoring at 15:25 of the first half. In the second half, the Bombardiers tied the match at 1-1 on a goal by Sarah Jennings, off a nice crossing pass from Kristen Mahoney, at 24:17 of the session. That score held up until the final minutes of the match when Aguiar scored a goal to give the visitors the lead for good. Mahoney, a junior midfielder, played well in the match for Attleboro as did junior sweeper Jenna Costa and sophomore midfielder Jessica Jeffrey. Despite having a 6-12 overall record following the loss to Durfee, Attleboro still gained a berth in the state tournament by finishing in second place in the Old Colony League with a 4-4 mark. The tournament pairings will be announced on Thursday. King Philip 2, Hopedale 2 HOPEDALE - The Warriors took a 2-0 lead, but then had to settle for a tie in their regular-season finale in a non-league match. King Philip took a 1-0 lead on a goal by Shayla Billian off of a penalty kick, 15 minutes into the match. The Warriors made it 2-0 on an unassisted goal by Lauren Young, five minutes later. Hopedale cut the lead in half with a goal, 12 minutes into the second half, and then tied the match at 2-2 with a goal with 11 minutes remaining in the match. Alex Ceven made 10 saves in net for King Philip (9-7-3). Bourne 5, Seekonk 2 SEEKONK - Scoring four goals over a 13-minute span in the first half, the Canalmen defeated the Warriors in a South Coast Conference season finale. The Warriors actually cracked the scoreboard first, with Vanessa Senecal scoring a goal just 1:30 into the match. Jordan Fina assisted on the play. Bourne then scored the game's next four goals. At the 33-minute mark, Fina scored with an assist from Anessa Bay to make it 4-2 at halftime. In the second half, Christine Pazlaza took over in the Seekonk net and made seven saves on 14 shots. The Warriors close out the season with a 4-12-2 overall mark.
