Heroic passersby earn local family's gratitude

To the editor:

This letter is to publicly thank the two gentlemen who saved my brother Domin Bernier from a burning car on Thanksgiving day.

It will be a long road to full recovery but because of you we are fortunate to still have with us our son, father, brother and uncle.

Your heroic efforts should be commended and we will be forever grateful. From the bottom of our hearts we say thank you! Michele Gendron
Attleboro

THIS LETTER was written on behalf of the Bernier family.

Vote against insiders
in Rehoboth recall

To the editor:

The recall effort in Rehoboth is a dangerous example of how a small, bitter group of special interests with an obsession for power and money can manipulate the system to stop reform dead in its tracks.

Reform Selectman Chris Morra has done exactly what we want an elected official to do. Since he was elected two years ago, he has worked to the benefit of the taxpayers and the town. He has demanded accountability and he has protected both the taxpayers and the land.

Unfortunately, this hasn't sat well with the people who have had control of the Rehoboth town government for years. On Jan. 7, taxpayers should vote against the insiders by voting No on the recall of Selectman Morra and vote to keep Selectman Morra in office. Otherwise, we will get the government that we don't deserve.

Keep reform selectman
on board in Rehoboth

To the editor: Next time you're wondering why it's so hard to get good people to run for office, take a close look at Rehoboth. After 35 years of living in this town, the people of Rehoboth are finally lucky enough to have two selectmen who are actually looking out for us, the taxpayers. They have stopped a number of expensive projects that could have been done much better, and have made town government work for the taxpaying citizens and their families, instead of a very select group of insiders. Now, these "insiders" are trying to set up an ambush and recall one of the reform selectmen, Chris Morra, while they lay in wait for the town elections in April to also try to take out reform Selectman Steve Martin.

But we can stop it on Jan. 7. I urge my friends and neighbors in Rehoboth to resist this power grab by the old power brokers and vote No on the recall of Chris Morra, the reform selectman, during the special town vote to be held on that date.

Jim Anderson
Rehoboth
