SEEKONK - Laudalino Camara of Pawtucket was indicted Friday by a grand jury for the October hit-and-run death of Maria Aguiar.
Camara, 50, was previously charged in district court, but the indictment moves his case up to Superior Court, making the charges felonies and exposing Camara to longer jail terms.
Gregg Miliote, a spokesman for Bristol County District Attorney Sam Sutter, said Camara will be arraigned in New Bedford Superior Court in the near future.
Camara is charged with negligent motor vehicle homicide and leaving the scene of an accident.
The indictment followed a month-long investigation by Seekonk police, Massachusetts State Police and police in East Providence, R.I.
Aguiar, a Seekonk resident, was killed Oct. 14 when she was struck by a white SUV while walking with her daughter along Chestnut Street, near her home.
