Local psychics peek into 2008

Flashback to December 2006. With a brand New Year right around the corner, could anyone have imagined some of the shocker moments that would define 2007?

The Patriots run for perfection? The Sox celebrating another World Series win? Britney Spears shaving her head in the middle of a barber shop?

OK, so you may have seen at least one of those coming.

2008 promises to be full of headlines, but will there be any big surprises? What's going to happen at the Super Bowl? Will we see the first female president of the United States?

Anyone's guess might be as good as the other, but there are a few people who claim to have the inside track on what lies ahead next year. The Sun Chronicle asked a few area psychics, Carol Ann from Angel Loft in North Attleboro, Lily from Lily's Astrology Readings in Providence, and Marjorie Cummings from Zodiac House in Walpole, for their take on what's going to break news in 2008. Here are their answers:

Sun Chronicle: Who is going to win the 2008 presidential election?

Carol: I knew that would be the first question. My initial feeling is Sen. Hillary (Clinton). That's what I strongly feel. But it might be because I'm partial.

Marjorie: I feel it's going to be Democratic, definitely. I don't even know all the people, but if I had to, I'd go with (Barack) Obama.

Lily: Right now, I'm feeling there's a lot of conflict. But I feel it will go on the right track. I feel that definitely that Hillary won't make it. That's my prediction.

SC: Any thoughts on the War in Iraq?

Carol: That's a sad thing. I'm a healer and I believe that if people start feeling with their hearts and putting those feelings out there for peace, our boys could come home this year. I honestly couldn't give any dates, but I feel it could happen.

Marjorie: I feel like, and I pray to God I'm right, it will end this year. I think it will be talked about around August, I see us starting to pull out in November or December.

Lily: I feel that's going to be the same for a while. There's no changes coming any time soon.

SC: Are we going to get new episodes of our favorite shows any time soon? Will the Hollywood writer's strike end? Carol: That's going to be over by the New Year.

SC: Will Britney - whose 16-year-old younger sister just announced her pregnancy - get it together this year?

Carol: I hope so! I feel honestly that with more help she could really turn it around. But I don't think she's ready. By June, something happens where she needs to force herself to do that. It's possible next year, but she'll still have to go through some things.

Marjorie: Not for a while. She's got a lot of imbalance around her. Hopefully by the end of the year, but I think there's a couple more things to come because she pulls out of it.

Lily: I do feel that this year she will definitely be smarter. She's going to make some wiser decisions. I actually feel she's going to come back as strong as she use to be.

SC: Can the Red Sox repeat their banner year?

Carol: Honest to God, I'm not sure we'll win again. I'd like to see that, but I get a sense there will be a stronger team.

Marjorie: I'm not so sure. I think it will be close, but I don't think so.

Lily: Oh yeah, I have a good feeling about them; a strong feeling they'll be one of the strongest teams for a while.

SC: Well, what about the Patriots? Are they going for 16-0?

Carol: Definitely.

Lily: There's no question about it. They're going to win.

SC: And, any general feelings about the New Year?

Carol: I just honestly believe that people are going to think more positively and with faith. And I also believe that's why we're going to start to see our world can change for the better. I really feel there will be a shift.

Marjorie: It's going to be a good year, spiritually. I really feel good that we're going to get some answers this year, definitely.

Lily: I can feel that this year, there will be a lot more spiritual for people. And I'm speaking in general, people seeking more religion and spiritual lifting.
