Dance teacher again busted for rape

NORTON - A dance instructor charged with raping a 15-year-old student he taught in Rhode Island was out on bail in a similar case involving a 15-year-old Norton girl he taught at a local dance school.

Keith Sampson, 29, of South Easton, faces two counts of statutory rape in the Norton case. He was arrested in 2005 and was scheduled to go to trial on Monday in Taunton Superior Court.

He is currently being held in jail without bail because a judge in Taunton District Court, where he was arraigned Wednesday on the new case, revoked his bail.

Sampson was out on $2,500 cash bail in the 2005 case, according to police, when he allegedly raped a 15-year-old girl he taught at a dance school he owned in Johnston, R.I.

Police say Sampson took the girl to his South Easton condo at 34 Pinebrook Lane Saturday, where the alleged assault took place.

Deputy Police Chief Allen Krajcik says the girl sent a text message to a friend in Rhode Island, who alerted police.

Krajcik says officers went to the home around 2:30 a.m. and found Sampson with the girl.

Sampson is charged with raping the girl after giving her alcohol. He pleaded innocent in Taunton District Court.

His lawyer in that case, John Moses of Taunton, said Thursday he was just appointed to represent Sampson and could not comment. However, he said Sampson denied the charges during a bail hearing.

The girl involved in the Norton case was a student at a Norton dance studio authorities would not identify at the time Sampson was arrested in 2005 after an investigation by Norton Detective Todd Bramwell.

His lawyer in that case, Camille A. McKenna of Providence, declined to comment when reached Thursday.
