ESSAYS: Our students' global concerns

What do the young people of the area think are the leading global concerns and what do they think should be done about them?

The Martin Luther King Day Celebration Committee of Attleboro brought out answers to those questions in an essay contest for this year's celebration. CLICK HERE for the essays, which were submitted by elementary, middle and high school students in the form of letters to the editor.

The winners of the essay contest will be announced during Martin Luther King Day ceremonies on Jan. 21. The holiday observance will begin with a ceremony at Attleboro City Hall at 1 p.m., followed by an inter-faith worship service at John Wesley A.M.E. Zion Church in North Attleboro.

" It's interesting to read these letters and see how the education system has turned into a liberal political action commitee. How about teaching math and real science? Perhaps english composition would be good, too. Stop trying to indoctrinate OUR children into YOUR political positions. Teachers are pitting child against parent. STOP IT! and do your jobs. "
