Obituaries were published for Raymond Doran, 94, of East Greenwich, R.I., and Melvin Emus, 89, of Foxboro.

Raymond Doran, 94

EAST GREENWICH, R.I. — Raymond P. Doran, 94, of Ives Road, died Sunday in Brentwood Nursing Home, Warwick, R.I. He was the husband of Jeannette O’Brien-Doran and the late Evelyn C. (Baker) Doran.

Born in Attleboro, a son of the late Percy and Rose (Roy) Doran, he had lived in East Greenwich for 55 years.

He was a veteran of World War II. Mr. Doran was a teamster employed by the Campanella and Cardi Construction Company until his retirement in 1976.

He was a member of Local 251, the Wickford Club and the East Greenwich Firemen’s Club.

He was the uncle of Mary Ann Trabucco of Attleboro; Wayne Wright of Newington, Conn.; Ralph Blackader and Robert Blackader, both of Attleboro; and Richard Blackader of Shoreview, Minn.

He was the brother of the late Leo and Roy Doran, Marie Blackader and Alice Wright.

His funeral will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. in the Cranston-Murphy Funeral Home of Wickford, 140 West Main St., Wickford Village, North Kingstown, R.I. Burial with military honors will follow in Newell Burial Ground, Attleboro.

Melvin Emus, 89

FOXBORO — Melvin Carl Emus, 89, died on Saturday, Dec. 29, 2007 at Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro. He was the son of the late David W. and Ethel M. (Nilson) Emus.

Melvin was born in Somerville on Aug. 16, 1918. He was a graduate of Arlington High School, Class of 1936.

He married his wife Peg in Waldorboro, Maine on April 15, 1939. Mel proudly served his country in the United States Army in the 1284th Engineer Combat Battalion during World War II. After the war, he graduated from the Franklin Technical School of Boston in 1952.

He had been a Foxboro resident since 1952.

He worked for Hub Steel & Iron Works in Readville for over 40 years and was a member of the Bridge Structural and Ornamental Iron Workers Union Local 501.

He was a member of the Bethany Congregational Church in Foxboro.

He was the beloved husband of Margaret “Peg” J. (Stahl) Emus; the loving father of Steven C. and his wife Liz of Londonderry, N.H., David H. and his wife Joanne of Hollis, N.H. and Alan J. and his wife Diane of Mansfield; the brother of Dorothea L. Blackwood of Auburn, Lucille G. Cash of Marstons Mills and the late Ronald Emus; the devoted grandfather of Jessica R. Schatz, Jason, Michael and Rachel Emus and Scott Emus and Jill VanEpps; and the great-grandfather of Dana and Naomi Schatz, and Jocelyn and Jackson Emus.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend calling hours on Wednesday, Jan. 2 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Roberts and Sons Funeral Home, 30 South St., Foxboro.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, Jan. 3, at 11 a.m. at the Bethany Congregational Church, 3 Rock Hill St., Foxboro. Interment with U.S. Army honors will follow at Rockhill Cemetery, Foxboro.
