Feehan icemen blank Stang




TAUNTON - John Casali collected two goals and one assist as the Bishop Feehan High hockey team qualified for the state tournament with a 4-0 blanking of Bishop Stang in an Eastern Athletic Conference game on Wednesday night at Alexio Arena.

With the win, the Shamrocks improved to 10-3 overall and 3-2 in the EAC, qualifying for the MIAA Division 2 South Sectional Tournament in the process.

Bishop Feehan took a 1-0 lead in the first period on a goal by John Casali, off an assist from Alex Rozniak, with 1:30 remaining in the first period. The Shamrocks continued to hold the one-goal lead through the second period.

Jordan Davidner gave Bishop Feehan a 2-0 lead with an unassisted goal at 11:44 of the third period.

The Shamrocks pushed their advantage to 3-0 on a goal by Casali, off assists from Davidner and Evan McMorrow, with 8:36 left in the final period. McMorrow concluded the scoring for the hosts with a goal with two minutes remaining. Casali and Davidner picked up assists on the score. Tyler Holske made a total of 22 saves to register his fourth shutout of the season in net for Bishop Feehan, who outshot Bishop Stang in the game, 28-22.

The Shamrocks will travel to Driscoll Rink in Fall River to face Durfee in a non-league game on Saturday afternoon at 4:30 p.m.

Stoughton 4, North Attleboro 2

BROCKTON - Robert Jordan collected one goal and two assists as the Black Knights knocked off the Rocketeers in a Hockomock League game at the Asiaf Rink.

North Attleboro got on the board in the third period when Justin Crear at the three-minute mark with Colin Flynn and Alex Ventola collecting assists. Stoughton regained its three-goal lead when Patrick Jordan scored at 10:43 of the third period. The Rocketeers concluded the scoring in the 10th minute when Pat Mooney scored a goal off an assist from Mack McCaughey.

Senior Kevin McElwee made 24 saves in the game for North (2-10-1), which hosts Franklin at the Foxboro Sports Center on Saturday at 8 p.m.
