Foxboro schools in hole
Top Headlines The $258,981 deficit in the budget for the fiscal year ending June 30 comes after school officials identified $119,108 in reductions, School Business Administrator Paul Jackson said. Retirements, heat and electricity were among the biggest items. Of the $258,981, special education out-of-district transportation and tuition is $248,066, Jackson said. School officials have discussed funding the special education tuition shortfall through either Foxboro's tuition revolving account or its circuit breaker account, he said. "All accounts will continue to be monitored for potential savings," Jackson said. The current $23.4 million school budget is up 3.87 percent from last year. The school committee has approved a $25 million budget proposal for next year, representing a 6.94 percent increase over current spending. That spending plan faces review from town officials before going before voters at town meeting in late spring.
