FOXBORO - Two town departments handcuffed for space for more than two years are about to move into the abandoned police station in the basement of town hall.
The planning and conservation departments are expected to have their own offices next week after renovations are done in several rooms in the former town police station.
"We need the space to have all our documents together, but we will miss the people who were gracious in sharing their space with us," said planning department secretary Gabriela Jordan, who has been working from the selectmen's office.
For now, four employees will be moving downstairs: Town Planner Marc Resnick, Conservation Agent David Risch, conservation secretary Esther Harris and Jordan.
The two departments were squeezed into town hall after the town sold the Lewis Building on Mechanic Street to the Sage School.
The conservation department will occupy the former police dispatch room and an adjacent room.
The planning department will take two other rooms.
A large room will be used for storage of records.
