ATTLEBORO - An Attleboro District Court judge ordered a single mother on probation for distributing marijuana to jail for two months Friday for violating her probation.
Robyn E. Doyle, 26, of 338 Newport Ave., South Attleboro, was sentenced by Judge Gregory L. Phillips, who rejected the recommendation of the probation department and Doyle's lawyer to give her a suspended sentence.
Doyle was on probation for distributing marijuana in connection with a 2005 raid by Attleboro police, when she was charged last November with drug conspiracy involving the seizure of 20 pounds of marijuana sent to an Attleboro apartment through parcel postage.
Attleboro Detective Sgt. Arthur Brillon testified that Doyle was involved in making telephone calls for a co-defendant, who was arrested later for receiving the package.
Doyle, who is the mother of two daughters, ages 1 and 5, has broken ties with an ex-boyfriend she was arrested with in 2005 and has been employed full-time, her lawyer, James Caramanica of Norton, told the judge.
Caramanica said Doyle felt pressured and threatened when she was repeatedly contacted by her ex-boyfriend's friend and finally made telephone calls related to the package of marijuana.
Phillips said he could not suspend the sentence for someone on probation for distributing marijuana who was arrested again on a new drug charge.
Doyle is due back in court March 13 on the drug conspiracy charge.
The probation department had asked the judge to give Doyle a suspended 90-day jail sentence.
