Wheaton asks Attleboro court to dismiss lawsuit

NORTON - Wheaton College is asking an Attleboro District Court judge to dismiss a lawsuit filed by a former student over its billing practices for overseas study programs.

The college says in court papers that Hingham lawyer, James Brady, who filed he suit on behalf of his daughter, lacks legal standing to assert claims against Wheaton and cannot show any false statements or breach of contract claim.

Brady claims the college used "deceptive and unfair" practices to make its students pay the full per-semester cost of attending the college even when students attend study abroad programs run by outside organizations that are significantly less expensive.

Brady's daughter, Jenny Bombasaro-Brady, graduated from Wheaton in January and he filed the suit a month later.
