NORTH ATTLEBORO - A 13-year-old middle school student will face assault and related charges in Attleboro Juvenile Court next week for allegedly threatening a classmate with a box cutter.
The youth, whose name was not released because of his age, was suspended from school Thursday, following the incident, according to police.
No one was injured.
The student did not have a "hit list" as earlier reported.
"He made a statement that he had two people on his list, but there was no physical list," Detective Lt. David Dawes said today.
Dawes said the two students had quarreled earlier.
School officials immediately notified police Thursday and the student was arrested at the school after an investigation by Detective John Reilly and Patrolman Gary Maitland.
Parents were informed of the incident by school officials using the reverse 911 phone communication system.
The student was released to a parent and faces arraignment Tuesday in Attleboro Juvenile Court.
He was charged with assault by means of a dangerous weapon, uttering threats to commit a crime, disturbing a school assembly and possession of a weapon or property capable of causing damage or injury.
