MIAA State Meet champions Joey Sbordon of Bishop Feehan High School and Erica DeMunbrun of Mansfield High are among the elite swimmers to be recognized as members of the 2008 Sun Chronicle All-Star Swimming Team.
Sbordon, the Shamrocks' senior captain, won both the 200 and 500 freestyle events at both the MIAA Division 2 and MIAA South Sectional Championship Meets, one of four swimmers in the stable of coach Kyle VanDenBerghe to receive All-Star status.
DeMunbrun, a MHS rookie who also represents the Tsunami Swim Club, proved to be the most elite of the area's female swimmers this winter season. She took home the 100 butterfly title at both the MIAA State and South Sectional Championship Meets and being a key figure in the Hornets' fortunes.
Sbordon and fellow Shamrock all-stars Pat Sullivan, Ryan Younis and Mike Parry directed Bishop Feehan to a second place finish at the Southern Conference Meet (behind Bishop Stang), a second place finish at the Division 2-South Sectional Meet and a second place finish at the MIAA State Div. 2 Meet.
Sophomores Taylor Briseno and Matt Souza, both qualifiers for the MIAA State Meet, were also MHS representatives on the all-star list.
Seekonk High's multi-talented (soccer, track) senior captain Tom Silva, who never competed in diving events before this season, finished with a pair of top 12 performances in the big postseason meets, gaining all-star acclaim.
The Rocketeer girls' team captured the first-ever Hockomock League title, directed by the senior Maddie Hebert and Meg Hamlin and the performance of sophomore Megan Hamlin. The fourth Rocketeer is the leading boys' point-scorer, freshman Connor Devers.
