Last modified: Saturday, March 29, 2008 1:00 AM EDT Hornets start off with rout; North plays 1st varsity match MANSFIELD - Ciara Pisano netted seven goals as the Mansfield High girls' lacrosse team began its 2008 season with a 20-7 rout of Canton Friday in a Hockomock League match at Alumni Field. In presenting new head coach Dawn Kafel with a victory in her debut match, the Hornets raced to a 12-1 halftime lead. Hornet goalie Julie Verbic totaled seven saves, while Kerry Kiley was a workhorse in the defensive end of the field. Lindsay Quinn added four goals for Mansfield, while Kathryn Daisy (three goals) and Brianna Hayes (one goal, three assists) also figured significantly for the Hornets. Mansfield returns to action Wednesday at North Attleboro.
