Rock 'n' roll here to stay as Tweeter gets licensed
Top Headlines Town Manager John D'Agostino said the license hasn't been changed, although Tweeter Executive Director Bruce Montgomery met recently with him and the police and fire chiefs to discuss preparations for the coming season. Last year, Montgomery said, only two of Tweeter's shows ended later than the license allows. One ran about four minutes over, and another ran about 12 minutes over, he said. D'Agostino said the fines levied for shows running over act as "a deterrent." For the most part, selectmen said Tweeter is a good neighbor. "I believe that you really do try to accommodate the people who complain (about noise)," said Selectman David McCarter. "We've tried to learn to live with each other." But Selectman George Dentino criticized his colleagues for failing to exercise due diligence in examining the paperwork involved in the license renewal. Dentino said the selectmen's briefing materials did not include last year's license or documentation to show Tweeter had paid outstanding utility bills. He also pointed out that Montgomery had failed to answer two questions on the license renewal form. TED NESI covers Mansfield for The Sun Chronicle.
