Police say her license was suspended after 2004 fatal crash
ATTLEBORO - A North Attleboro woman charged in the 2004 deaths of a pregnant woman and a friend in a motor vehicle-pedestrian accident on Route 1 was charged Friday with driving after her license was revoked.
Emily R. Carson, 23, of 77 Metcalf Road in North Attleboro, was ordered held at an Everett hospital for a psychological examination after pleading innocent in Attleboro District Court.
A court-appointed psychologist testified that Carson was suffering from depression and recommended a further evaluation.
Carson was pulled over by police about 1 a.m. Friday after she was observed driving erratically on Route 1 near Old Post Road, according to police.
On Aug. 8, 2004, Carson was arrested on charges of drunken driving and vehicular homicide in the deaths of two pedestrians, and has pleaded innocent. She was later charged with the death of the fetus.
The victims were Fan Yan, 29, who was five months' pregnant, and Jin Yu Lu, 35, both of Royal Park Apartments.
The case has been pending before the state Appeals Court on a pretrial appeal. Her license was revoked by the Registry of Motor Vehicles because of that accident.
She is due back in court May 29.
