GIRLS' TENNIS: KP's Goldberg nets 500th career win WRENTHAM - Through the course of better than three decades of service to the King Philip Regional High athletic program, Bob Goldberg has hit a lot of backhands and forehands, taken a lot of busrides and wore out more than two pairs of sneakers. Goldberg also has notched 500 career victories, that occuring Monday on the new courts at King Philip High as the unbeaten (5-0) Warriors scored a 5-0 victory over Canton in a Hockomock League match. "Unless you have the talent, you can be best coach in the world and not win," said Goldberg in praise of the many Warriors who have come under his tutelage in 36 spring seasons on the tennis courts. The Warriors have won 33 matches over the past two seasons and have averaged 14 wins during Goldberg's tenure. The Warriors just might be the best team in the Hockomock League this season with Courtney Puddester, Sarah Shipley and Lauren Trudeau all scoring straight set victories over the Bulldogs. Also in the Hockomock League, Sarah Yeransian and Mila Elich each lost just two games at their respective No. 1 and 3 singles spots as overpowered 5-0. Foxboro's Lauren Fisher took a 6-4 second set in her No. 2 singles match with the Hornets' Amanda Wolfe. In an Old Colony League match, (1-3) suffered a 5-0 loss to powerhouse Barnstable, taking just two g ames in singles competition, just one in doubles play. The Bombardiers entertain Taunton Thursday.
