YOUTH LACROSSE: Titans open with a bang
Top Headlines With six home contests and four road games for the Titans, things started off with the U-15 boys Team 2, when blanked Easton 7-0. Tom Sheerin was once again solid in the cage for the Titans while at the other end, the offense fired 30 shots on goal and set the tone by scoring on their first two of the game. Chace Mechlinski led the way offensively with four points, including a goal and three assists. Ben Hargraves also scored two for the Titans, while Tyler Zarembovicz, Nate Malone, Zach Gregg and Brian Sieber also found the back of the net. Also figuring in on the scoresheet with assists were Codi Moreau, Jeremy Hoff and Reid Holden. Sheerin was superb in goal for the Titans, especially during five man-down situations. he got help defensively from Mitch Garon, Joe Russo, Andrew Cooper, Sean Courtney and Chris Fahey. The Titans face a tough King Philip team this Sunday (noon) at Petti Field in North Attleboro. The also got the better of Easton, rolling 8-4 at Horton Field. Michael Boyland scored three times and Alex Urban scored twice as the Titans jumped to an early lead and never looked back. The defense, led by Michael Rainha, Alec Perry and Rocco LaVita, played a strong game, limiting Easton's scoring opportunities. Colton Williamson was sharp in goal and helped get the team's fast-break started on several occasions. Matt Blackman, Xavier Gemba and Andrew Chretien all tallied assists with their exceptional passing. Oliver Baublis, Porter Fortenberry, and Andrew Rowan each scored hard-fought goals in the second half that put the game out of reach. The team had a strong showing in its first game of the 2008 season, beating Raynham 10-2. Emily Sanders had a hat trick while Meghan McHugh and Michelle Tacchi had two goals each. Ashley Sheehan, Kerrin Gallagher and Caroline Flynn rounded out the scoring with a goal apiece. Alexandra Hayes, Rachel Lentz and Annya Russell were strong defensively throughout the game, helping to limit Raynham to just two goals. The continues to show signs of improvement despite a tough loss to Easton. Brady Gaudette had two goals while Mitchell Caruso and Connor Dunn each had a goal. Luke Kane, Neal Doherty and Sean Echeverri played tough defense throughout while Spenser Schwieger, Tyler Thomas and John Hunter moved the ball around the field. The won a hard-fought battle against a relentless Easton team, Joe Minicucci leading the scoring with a pair of goals. James Kummer, Ryan Ma, Tommy Cook and Steve Hathaway also scored as the Titans earned their first win of the season by a 6-2 score.
