SOFTBALL: Feehan rally goes for naught
Top Headlines Kayla Holland smashed a two-run homer in the top of the seventh to give the Shamrocks a 6-4 lead, but the Spartans answered with their own two-run homer with two outs in the bottom of the inning. Kerrin DeGirolamo singled and scored the tying run for the Shamrocks in the seventh on a Morgan Lindberg double. Feehan was unable to break the 6-all tie despite having runners on base in both the eighth and ninth innings. In the eighth, Spencer Driscoll stroked a leadoff single but was stranded at third base. In the ninth, Jack Atkinson had a two-out base hit. Holland (three hits, four RBI), DeGirolamo (two hits) and Lindberg (two hits) paced the Shamrock attack. Bishop Feehan (4-4 overall) next visits crosstown rival Attleboro High Tuesday. Taunton 8, Attleboro 0 TAUNTON - Erin Wade, the Tigers' reknown hurler of record, allowed merely a leadoff single to Ashley Sanford and then mowed down the Bombardiers in the Old Colony League game. Wade allowed just two baserunners in the game, issuing just one walk, while striking out 11 and no Bombardier ever advancing into scoring position. Meanwhile, the Tigers used a pair of passed balls and a pair of wild pitches to plate two first-inning runs off AHS starting pitcher Vanessa Alvarez. Three Bombardier errors resulted in Taunton scoring five fifth inning runs. Attleboro (1-3 overall) visits New Bedford today.
