Norfolk resident to fight hunger

A Norfolk resident, Stephanie Lewis, has put together a team for the 40th anniversary Walk for Hunger in Boston Sunday, May 4, with a goal of her team raising $15,000.

Softball celebration Saturday

Norfolk Girls Softball will celebrate the reconstruction of Field 2 at the Freeman-Centennial School on opening day, Saturday, April 26 at 1:45 p.m.

The celebration will include a ribbon-cutting, ceremonial first pitches by representatives from the Haunted Train Ride, in conjunction with Norfolk Lions and Norfolk Community League and Norfolk Recreation Commission.

Those organizations provided funds for the reconstruction project.

Wash your car, help scouts

Boy Scout Troop 80 is holding a car wash Saturday, April 26 from 8 a.m. to noon at the Federated Church downtown.

Proceeds will help pay expenses for an outdoor adventure camping and canoe trip this July in the Minnesota and Ontario, Canada areas.

Get moving in Norfolk

It is time to register for Norfolk Recreation spring classes. Residents and nonresidents welcome.

Classes with openings start the week of April 28.

There are classes for toddlers with an adult, drop-off pre-school programs, school-age programs and adult classes.

There are also program booklets available outside the recreation office on the lower level of town hall, which is open Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. One can use credit card to register online.

Homebound readers

Norfolk Public Library and the Council on Aging remind senior citizens they offer a read-at-home program.

If you are a homebound senior citizen or handicapped, you can receive books and audiocassettes without having to leave home.
