FRANKLIN - Powell Simpson and Matt Calanan powered the unbeaten Mansfield High boys' spring track team to a 93-34 conquest of Canton Thursday in a Hockomock League meet.

In helping the Hornets improve to 6-0 on the season, Simpson finished first in both the 200 (22.9) and long jump, while Callanan won both the high and low hurdles.

The Hornets swept the 100, shot put, javelin and discus events.

The unbeaten (5-0) Falcons of scored a 90-46 victory over Wareham in a South Coast Conference meet behind a trio of underclassmen. Sophomore Brian Espinosa soared 40-5 to win the triple jump, junior Josh Wakefield uncorked a personal best throw of 132-5 1/2 in winning the discus and junior Matt Gaudet clocked a personal best 23.3 time in taking first place in the 200.

Brad Willox clocked a 10:14 time to win the two-mile run, while Mark Wolff lead a Rocketeer sweep of the shot put event as (4-1, 4-0) overpowered Stoughton 89-47 in a Hockomock League meet. Elijah Harris won the 200 sprint, while taking second in both the long jump and 100. The Warriors (0-6) fared well in the field events but were outmanned in the running events by Oliver Ames, losing an 82-54 Hockomock League decision. KP's Chris O'Neil (a winning 53.4 in the 400) and Dan Kelly (17.3 in the 110 hurdles, finishing second) turned in personal bests, as did James Killian in the 800, a 2:11 time for third. Brian Toney also won the long jump with a 21-1 leap.

Stonehill College-bound senior Stephan Neville won both the 100 and 200, while Shawn Geary clocked a 2:02 time in winning the 800, but the Warriors (3-2) suffered an 81-55 loss to Franklin in a Hockomock League meet.

In the Tri-Valley League, suffered just its second loss of the season as Hopkinton was out in front in most of the field events. Chris Jordan was the only Lancer winner in the field events, throwing a personal-best 141-7 in the javelin. On the track, Emerson Almeida led a Norton sweep of the 400 with a personal-best 53.6 and also anchored the winning mile relay team. The Lancers (4-2) are at Dover-Sherborn on Monday.

The Cougars (3-2) scored a 74-61 victory over Hopedale in a non-league meet. Mark Cividino (long jump) and Jarred Gaummond each won an event and placed in three events for the Cougars, while the 4x100 relay team qualified for the MIAA Meet.
