Still time to cast Kiss the Pig vote
Top Headlines There is still time to "vote" for the person you'd like to see Kiss the Pig in DANA's promotion by stuffing money in special red buckets that are making their way around town. The buckets each represent a special local dignitary, who has agreed to kiss Gunther, World War I Memorial Park zoo's pig, if their bucket is filled with the most money. The five people who agreed to be the guinea pigs for the fundraiser are Tony Calcia of the Hockomock YMCA; Bob DaSilva, manager of North Attleboro Federal Credit Union; Town Administrator Mark Fisher; State Rep. Betty Poirier and Todd Vigorito, a North Attleboro Middle School teacher. The fundraiser will be ongoing through May 2, and the buckets will travel around town. For the current week, the bucket will be placed at Rockland Trust. All money raised in the promotion will be used to support the free programs run by DANA. North TV will be holding a series of workshops beginning in March for town residents who are interested in learning about television production. The first class, studio production, will be held on Monday, March 17. The second class, which will focus on portable field production, will be held on Monday, March 24. The third class, editing with Final Cut Pro, will be held on Monday, March 31. The final class, on Producing Your Own Show, will be held on Monday, April 7. All classes begin at 7 p.m., and will run approximately two hours. Workshops are a prerequisite for individuals and non-profit groups who are interested in producing their own cable access show, as well as individuals who would like to help crew North TV and access productions. Class size is limited. To learn more or to register, contact Access Coordinator Michelle Lussier at 508-695-3973. The town's 9/11 memorial will be featured on the cover of the 2007 town report. Selectman Paul Belham suggested that the memorial, which was constructed by Scott McGuire in 2005, be on the cover. McGuire raised more than $14,000 to build the memorial as part of his Eagle Scout project. The granite marker is found on Baptist Common. Congratulations to Elaine Jamieson, who was recently appointed as the town's assistant treasurer. Jamieson, who has worked for the town for seven years, was promoted to replace former assistant treasurer Paul Pinsonnault, who left in December.
