Feehan to 'jazz' up 23rd annual dinner auction March 29
BY JANETTE SEARS FOR THE SUN CHRONICLE
ATTLEBORO - For its 23rd annual dinner auction, Bishop Feehan High School is "Jazzin' It Up" according to auction Co-chairwomen Loretta Romero, Jacqui Dodge and Fran Leonard.
The event will take place at 6 p.m. Saturday, March 29 at Luciano's Lake Pearl in Wrentham, where festivities will include a "Fire & Ice" champagne raffle, mystery box auctions at each table, quickie auction boards hosted by Auctioneer John Terrio and live dinner music.
In addition to offering the usual golf outings and exclusive tickets to sporting events, Terrio will facilitate the bidding for the many one-of-a-kind experiences to be offered, such as after-hours spa parties, celebrity chef cooking and baking classes, a rock 'n' roll party, season passes to the movies, autographed sports memorabilia and Tiffany's jewelry.
As a major fundraiser, organized by the Parents for Feehan Committee in association with the Office Of Advancement, the event will help fund the building of the school's new library/media center in Mercy Hall, and with donations to date, organizers are hopeful they will reach the goal.
"We have hit new marks in acquisition both in terms of sheer numbers and interest," Leonard said. "Last year's event raised about $70,000; our goal is obviously to exceed that amount. Given the items and packages which have been acquired, we are very optimistic that our goal will be met," she said.
And, this year, bidders don't have to wait until the live auction to get in on the action.
"We are very excited about some of the new features we have added to this annual event," Leonard said.
Since Bishop Feehan is jazzing things up with the building of its new library and media center, Leonard said she and her co-chairwomen "thought that it only seemed natural to direct all the proceeds of this year's gala toward this exciting endeavor."
As such, Leonard says the idea of jazzing things up is interwoven throughout this year's event, beginning with the first-time event feature of an online auction. Interested bidders can participate in this year's activities by checking out bfhsauction.org, where online bidding will be accepted through 10 p.m. March 19.
In addition to the online auction, this year's event has been jazzed up to include a selection of new auction items.
