Colonial medicine to be historical society topic

Attleboro historian and re-enactor David Downs will be featured at the next meeting of the Foxboro Historical Society as he brings Colonial medical procedures and implements to life.
Downs will present "An 18th Century Surgeon: A Special Blend of History and Humor" at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 25 at the American Legion Hall, 8 Mechanic St., near Foxboro common.
Downs has assembled a unique collection of antique medical and surgical instruments. He will be available after the meeting to answer questions about the implements he has on display as well as the ones he demonstrates during the presentation. Meetings of the historical society are free, the public is welcome, and refreshments are served.
The Foxborough Special Education Parent Advisory Council will host "Special Needs Trusts and Insurance Issues" with Tim Ross and Alexandra Golden at 7 p.m. Thursday, March 20 in the Igo Elementary School cafeteria.
Timothy Ross from New York Life will explain the various policies and programs available to serve the needs of families with children with special needs. Ross is the parent of a child with special needs and has many years experience in the insurance business.
Attorney Alexandra Golden is a member of the Public Policy Committee of the Massachusetts chapter of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys, the BayPath Alzheimer's' Network, and the Legal Advisory Council of the national Child and Adolescent Bi-Polar Foundation. She regularly speaks to groups around eastern and central Massachusetts about health care rights, guardianship and conservatorships, Medicaid, and estate planning.

Another team captain meeting has been scheduled for 7 p.m. Monday, March 31 at the Hockomock Area Y's Foxboro branch.

The Relay For Life of Greater Foxboro will hold a Locks of Love-cutting ceremony on Saturday, June 21. Anyone planning to donate their locks this season should contact Amy Walker at 508-337-9828 or aw1529@verizon.net.
The Hunakai Studio School of Fine Art will hold a free drawing workshop for adults from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Monday, March 31.
