NORFOLK - A family ice-skating fundraiser and bake sale are being held Saturday, April 5 from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Norfolk Arena off Dean Street to help a Norfolk resident raise money for her run in the Boston Marathon.
Jane Sylvestre is raising money for Michael Sweetman, a first grader at Olive Day School who is fighting cancer.
Norfolk Arena is giving 100 percent of the funds raised during the event to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Michael's name.
Tickets are $5 a person. Reserve a spot by Friday, March 28. Mail request, including name, address, phone number, and number of tickets desired, and check payable to Norfolk Arena, to Jane Sylvestre, 91 Medway Street, Norfolk, MA 02056. Workshop for vets

PLAINVILLE - A workshop on the Veterans Aid and Attendance benefit will be held at the Plainville Council on Aging, 9 School St., at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 9.
Guest speakers will be: Peter Rego, director of veterans services for the City of Attleboro; Ellen Wood of Veterans Financial, Inc.; Karin Hulse, Canterbury Woods community relations director; and Karole Nicholson, Community VNA community outreach manager.
