Save-A-Pet April 1-3

The 21st annual Save-A-Pet auction will be held April 1-3 from 6:30 to 10:30 p.m. at the Johnson & Wales Inn at 213 Taunton Ave. The auction also will be televised to Seekonk residents on Comcast cable channel 9.

There's lots to do at the Seekonk Public Library, including:
On Monday, March 24 at 6:30 p.m., the library will present "The Legend of King Arthur" to be performed by The Hampstead Players of Center Barnstead, N.H., a national touring children's theater company, has been visiting schools and libraries throughout the nation for more than 15 years.
The 50-minute performance, sponsored by The Friends of Seekonk Public Library, is free and features two actors in full period costume, each playing several roles, with audience participation.
The Newman YMCA will present a seminar on "Identifying and Responding to Bullying" from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, March 27 free to parents and their children. Upcoming programs involving Seekonk Human Services include:
Town Administrator Michael Carroll will speak at Triad on Wednesday, March 26 at 10 a.m. The local Triad involves the Seekonk police and fire departments, the Bristol County Sheriff's Office and the Seekonk senior community. They work together by creating programs beneficial to enhancing the quality of life of Seekonk's senior residents. Lunch is $2 and you must sign up at 508-336-8772 in advance.
Kevin Carter from Collette Travel will present a travel show April 2 at Human Services.
He also will bring a free lunch for those attending the presentation. Because seating is limited, call 508-336-8772 by March 26. Anyone calling after that date will be put on a waiting list.
The food pantry at Seekonk Human Services is available on Saturday mornings from 8 a.m. until 10 a.m. for anyone that is income eligible. Applications are available at the Human Services office. Call 508-336-8772.

The board of health is looking to fill two vacancies. The board is responsible, through its agents, to enforce the public health laws of the state. It is also responsible for setting policy and writing local regulations pertaining to public health and the environment.
The members are required to be part of the Emergency Response Team and required to attend all drills. Anyone interested in joining can call Health Agent Harold Chenevert at 508-336-2950. |
