Salisburys celebrate 60th anniversary

Chester and Jean (Strahan) Salisbury recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. Family members gathered for a dinner in their honor.

Chet and Jean were married on May 1, 1948 in Attleboro. Both were born and raised in Attleboro and attended Attleboro schools. Chet worked at Larson Tools and Levens Manufacturing, along with numerous side jobs and ventures. Jean worked in the accounting department at Texas Instruments for 29 years. Both have been retired for a few years.

The couple raised four children in South Attleboro: Kathie Egan of Franklin, Lynne Mendes of South Attleboro, Chester Salisbury of Lexington, Ky., and the late Lorraine Sullivan, who was taken by cancer in June 2007. They have three sons-in-law: Dennis Egan, Steve Mendes and Ed Sullivan II.

Chet and Jean have five grandchildren: Michelle Egan, Tori Mendes, Eddie Sullivan, Jeffrey Sullivan and Jo Ellen Sullivan. They also have two great-grandchildren, Robert Egan and Cameron Salisbury.

Chet and Jean spent many weekends and vacations with family and friends in a Dennis Port home they owned for many years. They have recently moved back from Hutchinson Island, Fla., and now reside in their Norton home, but also continue to spend plenty of time at the Cape.
