GIRLS' TRACK: D-R, KP, Seekonk all roll to big wins

REHOBOTH - Ashley Noons led a sweep of the shot put and discus events with first-place finishes as the Dighton-Rehoboth Regional High girls' spring track team overwhelmed Bourne 92-44 Monday in a South Coast Conference meet at Robert T. Roy Field.

The Falcons gained a commanding edge at 48-6 coming out of the field events, with senior Jessica Edmonds taking second place to Noons in both the discus and shot put, having a personal best throw of 34-61/2 in the latter event.

Samantha Reddington won the triple jump and took second in the high jump, Aislyn Sherry took second place in both the javelin and 200, while Kathleen Smith was the runner-up in both the triple jump and 400. In addition, Sadie Gosselin uncorked her fourth throw of the javelin this season over 100-feet, taking five first-place points at 102-feet, 5-inches.

The Falcons return to the rigors of SCC competition Thursday at Apponequet.

In a Hockomock League meet, proved too much for Stoughton, winning 81-55. The Warriors (3-4) continued their dominance in the discus as they swept for the sixth time. Katie Kelleher went 97-7 to win the discus, followed by the Smith sisters - Kayla and Melissa - who took second and third respectively. Loren Roche also had a solid meet for KP as she won the triple jump (30-2) and 200 (28.1) while taking second in the long jump.

The Warrior girls will be at Somerville for the State Coaches Invitational on Saturday.

In a Tri-Valley League meet, Dover-Sherborn won the final event, the 4x400 relay to nip . The Lancers earned 15 personal-best performances and had seven MIAA Meet qualifying performances, while Kelly Allen rewrote her own school record with the discus (113-4).

Courtney Williams won both the 100 and long jump, while Allen also secured five first place points by winning the shot put. Molly Anderson won the triple jump with a state meet qualifying clear of 31-8, while Lauren Johansmeyer had a first and second and Jill Wry a pair of second-place finishes. The Lancers (1-5-1) meet Medfield Thursday.

Janelle Clarkson tied the school record in the high jump, highlighting a 71-61, South Coast Conference victory by over Apponequet. Clarkson led a 1-2-3 sweep in the high jump, clearing 5-4and equaling the school record in the process. The Warriors (5-1) also got wins by Molly Beauchemain (mile, two mile) and Jordan Spina (300 hurdles) to hold off Apponequet.

Seekonk takes on Wareham next Monday.
