LACROSSE: Marves leads Foxboro past Rocketeers

NORTH ATTLEBORO - Victory No. 4 of the season arrived for the Foxboro High girls' lacrosse team Wednesday, a 17-9 verdict over North Attleboro in a Hockomock League match.

Jenn Marves netted four goals and Sarah DiGiardino added three for the Warriors (4-8), who created a 10-4 lead by intermission. Brisa Shaw, Cydney Vinetti and Lindsay Felix each added two goals for Foxboro.

Katie Noll accounted for a hat trick for North, while Shannon Morse had two goals. The Warriors unleashed 33 shots as North goalie Emily Hickey (23 saves). Foxboro returns to action Friday at home against Canton, while North (1-11) entertains King Philip.

King Philip 14, Franklin 8

NORFOLK - Hillary Bushway scored five goals as the Warriors moved within one victory of their sixth consecutive Hockomock League title with a win over the Panthers in a league match.

The teams battled to a 5-5 deadlock at the half.

Kerry Eaton also scored three goals in the game for the Warriors, while Mary Pasquantonio had a pair of scores. Sarah Biron, Kendall Harty, Jackie Lomp and Sarah Kilburne also scored goals for King Philip, while Katie Florence made 14 saves for the victory in net.

The Warriors, now 13-2 overall and 11-0 in the league, can earn their sixth straight league crown when they travel to North Attleboro for a league match on Friday afternoon.

MANSFIELD - Samantha Doucette scored three goals as the Hornets bolted out to a 10-2 halftime lead to beat the Tigers in the Hockomock League contest.

Kailee Moore, Ciara Pisano and Lindsay Quinn each added two goals for Mansfield. The Hornets had 10 players contribute points on the scoresheet with goalie Julie Verbic (four first half saves) coming out of net for the second half to score her first career goal. Ashley O'Leary took over in the second half in goal and made four saves. The Hornets (8-4-1) meet Franklin Friday.

FOXBORO - Freshmen Billy Roberts and James Stather scored goals in the final four minutes of play as the Warriors rallied for a victory over North Attleboro in a Hockomock League match.

"We're just so inconsistent," said Foxboro coach Matt Noone, whose Warriors improved to 7-6 overall, 6-5 in the Hockomock League.

Matt McCarthy scored two goals for Foxboro, which held a 4-2 halftime lead..

Kyle Bainton's second goal of the game for North with 8:30 left in the fourth quarter gave the Rocketeers a 7-6 lead. Roberts tied the match for the Warriors with 3:40 to go and Stather netted the match-winner with 2:15 left.

Foxboro had taken a 2-0 first period lead on goals by Brad Whalen (at 55 seconds) and McCarthy (at 6:08). North rallied back as Scott Macedonio scored the first of his two goals late in first period and Brendan Grealish stole the ball and scored from the right side against Foxboro goalie David Santos (13 saves) at 2:35 of the second quarter to tie the match.

Foxboro came right back as Andrew Hazeldine reclaimed the lead for the Warriors at 4:15 and Ed Noonan scored out of a "man up" situation with 59 seconds left in the first half.

"We put a lot of things together to fight back," said North coach Jeremy Nodelman of the five second half goals, with Corey Wynn and Jeremy Roche netting single scores.

Foxboro travels to Canton Friday, while North (1-11) visits King Philip.
