LACROSSE: Mansfield closing in on tourney
DARTMOUTH - Lindsay Quinn collected three goals and two assists as the Mansfield High girls' lacrosse team moved within one point of securing a berth in the MIAA Tournament with a 13-5 victory over Dartmouth in a non-league match on Saturday afternoon.
The Hornets took a 9-1 lead at the half and the teams battled to a 4-4 deadlock in the second half.
Samantha Doucette and Bryanna Hayes had two goals and one assist for Mansfield, while Kerry Kiley scored a pair of goals. Ciara Pisano contributed one goal and one assist for the Hornets, while Kailee Moore, Kiel Anderson and Michelle Navoni also had goals.
Julie Verbic made nine saves on the way to the victory in net for Mansfield, which improved to 9-4-1 overall. The Hornets are scheduled to travel to Hingham to face Notre Dame Academy in a non-league match on Monday afternoon. A win or tie earns a postseason berth for Mansfield.
St Mary's Bay View 16, Bishop Feehan 6
ATTLEBORO - Cori Semple scored three goals as the Shamrocks fell to St. Mary's Academy Bay View in a non-league match.
The visitors built a 13-2 advantage at the half, but Bishop Feehan bounced back, outscoring Bay View 4-3 in the second half.
Samantha Mason, Erin Hines and Ashley Rainha (one assist) also had goals for the Shamrocks, who dropped to 0-7 overall on the season. Bishop Feehan will host Dover-Sherborn in a non-league match on Monday afternoon. |
