- Firefighters had to evacuate a convenience store and a dry cleaner business and close one lane of travel on Route 140 for about an hour Monday morning because of a natural gas leak.
The leak occurred around 8:55 a.m. where a bank is under construction on Route 140. Fire Capt. Don Treannie said Route 140 North was shut down at Garfield Street as a precaution until Bay State Gas arrived to shut off the gas.
