Last modified: Thursday, April 24, 2008 2:06 AM EDT Garvins to celebrate 50th anniversary Charles and Rachel (Lawyer) Garvin of Norton will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on August 29. The couple, who were high school sweethearts, married at Bethel Baptist Church in New York City on August 28, 1958. They moved from South Carolina to Boston in 1958, then to Norton in 1976. Mr. Garvin worked at UPS as a sorter for 31 years, and has been retired for 8 years. Mrs. Garvin has worked at Boston College as a manager in the Human Resources Service Center for 36 years. The couple has four children - Ouida Garvin of Washington, D.C.; Joyce Leach of Attleboro; Ethel Garvin of Attleboro; and Charon Wallace of Silver Spring, Md. They enjoy gardening, spending time with their five grandchildren, and tailgating at Boston College football games. The Garvins will celebrate their anniversary in Aruba, a gift from their children.
