McDermotts celebrate 50th anniversary

James and Florence (Rubak) McDermott celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on May 3. A surprise party in their honor was held for 40 of their family members and friends in Seekonk.
The couple was married on May 3, 1958 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Norton.
Mr. McDermott attended Canton schools. He is employed by Willow Tree in Attleboro.
Mrs. McDermott graduated from Norton High School. She dedicated her years to raising the family and keeping the house a home.
The couple has seven children: Cathy McDermott of Norton; Debbie McDermott-Ali of South Attleboro; Janet McDermott of Taunton; Pauline Harding of Attleboro; Susie McDermott of Norton; Mary McDermott of Norton, James McDermott of Maine; and Denise Briody of Norton.
They also have seven grandchildren: Ashley, James, Cody and Samuel McDermott, all of Maine; and Matthew, Emily and Nathan Harding of Attleboro. The McDermotts are expecting another grandchild in the fall.
The couple enjoys taking trips to Maine to visit their grandchildren and spending time with their family.
