La Laiterie at Farmstead at Wayland Square in Providence hosts "high cheese" every Tuesday through Saturday at 3 during the spring and summer months. (401.274.7177) Eastern Standard Kitchen + Drinks on Commonwealth Avenue in Boston, a new Notester favorite, has some rose wines and bourban offerings in its future. Its annual offering of a Summer Rose-By-the-Glass List, which runs now through Oct. 10. The wines are 10 bucks a glass. On the bourbon side, since Derby Day - and for as long as it lasts - they have been pouring Jackson Cannon Selected Barrel ES No. 26, a Kentucky bourbon hand-picked by the restaurant at Buffalo Trace Distillery. For 10 bucks you can get it straight up, on the rocks, in a Mint Julep or the cocktail of your choice. Every week the two top performers win 25-buck gift certificates to Geppetto's. The grand prizes are a thousand bucks for first place, 300 for second and 200 for third. The competition continues through the summer with the finals taking place on the Wednesday after Labor Day. The educational evening will shed a light on all facets of cheese from production to differences in taste and texture to cheese producing regions and cheese selection.
