Community VNA plans hospice care series ATTLEBORO - A six-week series presented by Community VNA Hospice Care offers a learning and supportive experience to begin the journey toward healing. Divorce recovery help is available NORWOOD - The Divorce Recovery Series, an eight-week program covering the emotional stages of divorce and offering healing and support to those who are separated or divorced, will be offered at the First Congregational Church of Norwood beginning on Wednesday, May 14. The group is led by a professional counselor specializing in divorce issues, and participants are welcome regardless of religious affiliation. The church is located on the corner of Route 1A and Winter Street. The series will meet on Wednesday evenings from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Cost is $75 and registration is requested. Sleep apnea fair May 15 at Sturdy ATTLEBORO - Sturdy Memorial Hospital will hold a sleep apnea informational fair from 7 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, May 15 in the hospital's auditorium. The fair will feature the latest technology and equipment available to treat sleep apnea. The evening's topic is "What Is Sleep Apnea and How Is It Treated?" Texas Hold'em aids ALS foundation MASHPEE - A "Texas Hold'em Charity Poker Tournament" to raise money for the fight against Lou Gehrig's Disease will be held at Dino's Sports Bar at 5 p.m. on Sunday, May 18. Players may also register the day of the event at 4:45 p.m. The tournament is open to players age 21 and up, and a $50 cash donation per player is required. There will also be a 50/50 raffle. Hips, joins to be focus of VNA program ATTLEBORO - Community VNA will host a program from 2 to 3 p.m. Monday, May 19 at 10 Emory St. The program will feature Dr. Saul Magitsky, orthopedic physician and surgeon practicing at Sturdy Orthopedic and Sports Medicine Associates at 281 County St. Magitsky will discuss treatments for painful joints associated with osteoarthritis and osteoporosis. Community VNA Physical therapist, Joan Guerrero, will be present to discuss the importance of rehabilitation therapy for the homebound patient. Focus will be on hips and knee joints. Receive free foot screening at Sturdy ATTLEBORO - The Wound Care Center at Sturdy Memorial Hospital will host a free foot screening from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, May 30 in the hospital's auditorium. The foot screening will be performed by Dr. Tiffany Hodgson and Dr. Martin Harris. Information on foot care, nutrition tips, and Doppler tests performed by the Sturdy Memorial Vascular Lab will be provided, as well as complimentary refreshments and raffle prizes. Screening for foot sores and ulcers in diabetics is the first step in preventing diabetes-related complications. Registration is necessary for this screening. Get support at Sturdy ATTLEBORO - Sturdy Memorial Hospital is hosting a free new moms group for mothers with babies between the ages of 0 and 9. The program will be led by a certified parent educator. The next three-week program will begin on Wednesday, June 4 and continue on June 11 and 18 from 10 to 11:30 a.m. in the Clinical Education Center, located near the main lobby.
