David Morse Clay, 47
NORTH ATTLEBORO - David Morse "Davo" Clay, 47, of North Attleboro and Westwood, died suddenly on Saturday, April 12, 2008.
He leaves his loving companion of 15 years, Elise Precourt; his parents, June and the late Neal Clay of Westwood; and his brothers, Neal Jr. and his wife Elayne of Westwood, Dana of Brentwood, N.H. and Bruce and his wife Beth of Boxford. He was the beloved uncle of Douglas, Neal III, Nevin and Emily.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend visiting hours Thursday, April 17 from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Holden, Dunn and Lawler Funeral Home, 55 High Rock St. (off Route 109), Westwood.
The funeral service and interment will be private.
David loved fishing in Buzzards Bay and the surrounding Southeastern Massachusetts area.
William H. Howes, 88
WRENTHAM - William H. Howes, of Wrentham, where he lived for 13 years, died March 29, 2008 at the Charlwell House in Norwood. He was 88.
Born in Omaha, Neb., he was the son of the late John C. and Irene M. (Baggett) Cunningham, and was educated in southern California.
He had worked for General Motors for over 20 years, building 4-wheel drive independent suspension vehicles, and tested them at the Baja 1000, in Mexico during the 60's and 70's.
He graced the cover of Hot Rod Magazine in 1968 and many other publications over the years.
One of his cars is housed at the Peterson Automotive Museum, and among those who drove his race cars were Steve McQueen and James Garner.
In the 1980's, he had worked as an insurance appraiser, specializing in high end and unusual collectable vehicles, primarily dealing with arbitrators until he retired at age 75. In his retirement, he dabbled in cabinetmaking and furniture building.
Husband of 68 years to Cecelia (Roseborough) Howes, he was the father of Lawrence Howes of Santa Barbara, Calif., Jack Howes and his wife Florence of Chico, Calif., William Howes and his wife Janet of St. George, Utah, and Irene Dunbar and her husband David of Wrentham. Dear friend of Sandra Fellows of Wrentham, he is also survived by 11 grandchildren, including those whom he had lived with, Lori and Vincent Gamble, Rebecca Collins, Ethan and Elle Dunbar, and Christian Dunbar, and 12 great-grandchildren.
Arrangements under the direction of Richard Ross and the R.J. Ross Funeral Home Inc., 135 South St., Wrentham.
Jerault Jillson, 71
FOXBORO - Jerauld E. "Jerry" Jillson, of Foxboro, formerly of Plainville, died Wednesday, April 16, 2008 at his home. He was 71.
Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Ellis and Ruth (Wagner) Jillson, and attended Plainville schools.
He retired in 1995 as a patrolman for the Wrentham Police Department.
He had also worked for the Plainville Police Department for many years shortly after serving in the U. S. Marine Corps during the Korean War.
He returned to duty as a detail officer for the Plainville police and area communities until recently.
He was formerly on the board of directors for MassCOP, a former Plainville park commissioner, and former member of Excelsior Lodge, A.F. & A.M.
Husband of 15 years to Cynthia "Cindy" (Jackson) Jillson, he was the father of William Jillson and his wife Theresa of Plainville, Kimberly Manning of Plainville, Angela DeSalvo and her husband Aaron of North Attleboro, Edward Salvesen and Resa Brandfonbrener of Berlin, Kelly Salvesen of North Attleboro, Brenda Dinis and her husband Neil of Falmouth, and the late Jeraldine Elsie Jillson.
Brother of Richard Jillson of Tennessee, Paul Jillson of West Dennis, Nancy Hayes of Micco, Fla., and Sally Priest of North Attleboro.
Also survived by his grandchildren, Matthew and Stacey Jillson of Plainville, Jeffrey O'Donnell of Deerfield, N.H., Christopher O'Donnell of Plainville, Hailey Dinis of Falmouth, Jaquelyn DeSalvo of North Attleboro, and Etham and Noah Salveson of Berlin; many nieces and nephews; and his beloved dogs Brittney and Shelby.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 19 at 1 p.m. at the R.J. Ross Funeral Home, 135 South St., Wrentham.
Visiting hours will be Friday evening from 4 to 8 p.m. Burial will be held at a later date. |
