Obituaries were reported for Mary Anzalone, 75, of Foxboro, Malcolm Wendell, 80, of Attleboro, and Gordon McKenna Sr., 69, of Framingham.
Mary Anzalone, 75
FOXBORO - Mary Margaret Anzalone, 75, died on Sunday, May 4, 2008 at Caritas Norwood Hospital surrounded by the comfort of her loving family. She was the daughter of the late John and Margaret (Watson) Galvin.
Mary was born in Medford on April 7, 1933 and was a graduate of Medford High School, Class of 1951. She and her husband George were married on April 12, 1953 at Immaculate Conception Church in Malden.
Mary was a former treasurer for Rodman Ford in Foxboro for over 30 years.
She was the beloved wife of George William Anzalone; the loving sister of Katherine Traynor and Helen Galvin of Medford, and the late John and James Galvin; the sister-in-law of Margaret Anzalone of Brockton and her late husband Anthony Joseph Anzalone; and is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend calling hours on Wednesday, May 7 from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Roberts & Sons Funeral Home, 30 South St., Foxboro.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday at 9 a.m. at St. Mary's Church, Foxboro. Interment will follow at Knollwood Memorial Park in Canton.

Malcolm Wendell, 80
ATTLEBORO - Malcolm M. Wendell, 80, of Tyler Street, Attleboro, died Sunday, May 4, 2008 in the Life Care Center of Attleboro. He was the husband of the late Dorothy "Googie" (Fisher) Wendell.
He was born in Attleboro, a son of the late Deden A.T. and Dorothy E. (Barrows) Wendell, and was a lifelong resident of Attleboro, where he graduated from Attleboro High School and was a member of the first Attleboro High School basketball team to win the state championship. He had attended Brown University and Bryant College.
He had served with the U.S. Navy.
Malcolm had been the golf course superintendent for the Highland Country Club, Wannamoisett Country Club, and the Rhode Island Country Club for many years before retiring.
He was an avid golfer, scoring several holes-in-one, and was a member of the Wannamoisett Country Club. He was a member of the Rhode Island Golf Course Superintendents Association, the New England Golf Course Superintendents Association and the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America. He was one of the three founding members of the Attleboro Area Golf Association and had won the Attleboro City Open three times.
He was a member of the Second Congregational Church of Attleboro.
He leaves one son, Neil M. and his wife Susan R. Wendell of South Kingstown, R.I.; one daughter, Dee T. and her husband James J. Shortelle of Attleboro; three cousins: Bruce and Gary Carlson and Linda Okvist; and five grandchildren: Jennifer, Brian, William, Philip and Caroline.
He was the father of the late Kimberly Welsh and the brother of the late Gloria Johnson.
Calling hours and flowers are respectfully omitted, and funeral services will be private.

Gordon McKenna Sr., 69
FRAMINGHAM - Gordon D. McKenna Sr. of Framingham, where he lived for 25 years, died Sunday, May 4, 2008 at the Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Boston. He was 69.
Born in Boston, he was the son of the late Joseph and Margaret McKenna, and was educated in South Boston.
Formerly of Wrentham, he was a retired truck driver for Anchor Motor Freight in Framingham, and was a member of Teamsters Local 170.
He enjoyed trips to Las Vegas and his visits to the casinos.
He is survived by his companion of 30 years, Joyce Trotta. He was the father of Nancy Diede of Rehoboth, Ethel "Binkie" Chicoine of Attleboro, Gordon D. McKenna Jr. of Roanoke, Va., Kelly Niermeyer of Holden, and Billie McKenna Klegraefe of Attleboro; the brother of Joseph McKenna of Holliston and Margaret "Margie" Deverell of N.H.; the stepfather of Kathleen Sidman of Grafton and Joleen Sullivan and Christopher Trotta of Clinton; and is also survived by 20 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, May 8 at 9 a.m. at St. Mary's Church, 140 South St., Wrentham.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the R.J. Ross Funeral Home, 135 South St. (Route 1A), Wrentham Center.
Burial will be in Wrentham Centre Cemetery. |
