The following obituaries were published for Donald O. Cargill Sr., 66, Easton; Rose M. Wambolt, 84, Seekonk; Bernice J. Reid, 78, Mansfield.

Donald O. Cargill Sr., 66

EASTON
- Donald O. Cargill Sr., 66, a resident of Easton for the past 34 years, died Tuesday evening, May 13, 2008 at home under the care of Hospice and his family. He was the husband of Susan (Askew) Cargill for 41 years.

Born in Attleboro on Sept. 13, 1941, a son of the late Charles and Gladys (Williams) Cargill, he was raised and educated in Attleboro.

Donald worked as a truck driver for Pool Builders of Norwood for the past eight years. Previously, he has been employed by Blane Polymers of Mansfield. He was an avid fisherman, who enjoyed boating, deep sea fishing and auto mechanics.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by five children: Donald Cargill Jr. of Easton, Shelly Walker of Ashuelot, N.H., Stacey Murphy of East Wareham, Scott Cargill of Phoenix, Ariz. and Suzanne McKenzie of Easton; a brother, Charles Cargill of Attleboro; and nieces and nephews. He is also survived by five grandchildren.

He was also the brother of the late Ralph Cargill.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral on Saturday, May 17 at 10 a.m. in the Kane Funeral Home, 605 Washington St. (Route 138), Easton. Interment will follow in Furnace Village Cemetery, Easton.

Visiting hours will be held on Friday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.

Rose M. Wambolt, 84

SEEKONK
- Rose M. (Thurber) Wambolt, 84, passed away Wednesday, May 14, 2008. She was the beloved wife of Ralph L. Wambolt for 48 years.

Born in Seekonk, a daughter of the late Clarence and Yvonne I. (Larivee) Thurber, she was a lifelong resident of Seekonk.

Rose was employed by Swank Inc., Attleboro until 1962, when she left to raise her family. Besides her husband, she leaves one son, Robert L. Wambolt and his wife Suzette of East Providence, R.I., and several nieces and nephews.

She was the mother of the late Richard R. Wambolt and the sister of the late Blanche Fitton, Lillian McGovern and William Thurber.

Services will be held Monday, May 19 at 11 a.m. at the William W. Tripp Funeral Home, 1008 Newport Ave., Pawtucket. Interment will follow at Seekonk Cemetery.

Visitation will be held Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m.

Bernice J. Reid, 78

MANSFIELD - Bernice J. (Slaughter) Reid, 78, of Mansfield died on Tuesday, May 13, 2008 in the arms of her son Bobby at the Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro. She was the beloved wife of the late James C. Reid Sr., who passed away on Oct. 25, 1993.

Born in Holyoke on Oct. 17, 1929, she was a daughter of the late Beatrice (Slaughter) Ackerman and the late Francois Campbell.

She grew up in Holyoke and was educated in both Holyoke and Boston public schools. She furthered her studies and was a graduate of Simmons College in Boston. She received her master's degree in education at Tufts University.

Mrs. Reid was a retired second grade school teacher. She had taught in the Sharon school system for 20 years prior to retiring and had formerly been a teacher in the Boston school system for several years.

Her late husband's family settled in Mansfield in the 1940s, and in the 1970s Mr. and Mrs. Reid built their dream house in Mansfield, where she lived for over 30 years.

Active in town affairs, Bernice served on several town committees over the years, including the Cable TV Committee.

An avid artist she enjoyed painting and sketching. Her other interests included gardening, shopping trips and being in the presence of her adoring family.

She is survived by her devoted children: Robert K. Reid and his wife Cheryl of Mansfield, Karen E. Roby of West Warwick, R.I., Ronald A. Reid and his wife Maria of Marlboro, Joseph A. Reid of Mansfield and the late James C. Reid Jr. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Winifred Harraway of Milton; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was the mother-in-law of the late Kenneth C. Roby.

Funeral services, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Monday, May 19 at 11 a.m. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home, 55 North Main St., Mansfield. Burial will follow in the Spring Brook Cemetery, Mansfield.

Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, May 18 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home.
