Pawtucket pounds out win
SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The Pawtucket Red Sox defeated Syracuse, 9-3, Thursday night at Alliance Bank Stadium.
Newcomer Sandy Madera continued to impress. The designated hitter slammed a two-run home run and a double. Jeff Bailey nailed a home run and added a double and an RBI-single. Joe Thurston went 4-for-5, scoring two runs and George Kottaras had three hits, including two doubles and two RBI.
Abe Alvarez (2-1) earned the win with 12/3 innigns of shutout ball. Devern Hansack weathered a tough first inning, lasting until there were two outs in the fifth.
The PawSox improve to 16-12 and will try to get to a season-high five games over .500 on Friday night at 7 p.m. Kyle Snyder (0-0) faces Davis Romero (0-1). |
