LACROSSE: League crown belongs to KP




NORTH ATTLEBORO - For the sixth successive season, the King Philip Regional High girls' lacrosse team is the Hockomock League champion.

Kerry Eaton scored five goals and Mary Pasquantonio netted four as King Philip overpowered North Attleboro 20-1 Tuesday in a Hockomock League match.

Hilary Bushway, Kendall Harty, Sarah Biron and Janessa Barrett each netted two goals for KP, which held a 9-1 lead by intermission. Meg Marra, Ali Fair and Sarah Kilburn each had a single tally for the Warriors (14-2, 12-0 league).

Brianna Doherty scored the lone goal for North, while Rocketeer goalie Emily Hickey totaled 17 saves. Katie Florence had to make just five saves in goal for the Warriors.

KP visits Sharon today, while North has a date with Canton. BOYS

HARWICH - The Cougars quest for a tournament berth will have to wait after an overtime loss at Cape Cod Tech.

Mike Cavanaugh had a hand in all six Cougar goals, scoring twice and assisting on the four others. Brendan Blist had three goals and Chris Coffey added the other. T-C goalie Jamie McGlaughlin made eight saves in the turnover-filled match.

The Cougars (9-4) visit Southeastern on Thursday.
