GIRLS' TRACK: Attleboro misses out on OCL title
Top Headlines The Trojans held a 691/3-562/3 advantage before the Bombardiers won both relay events to cut the deficit to less than three points. Teresa Pelletier won a pair of events for Attleboro, capturing the two mile with a time of 12:14:20 as well as the mile with a mark of 5:39:60. Dara Edge captured the triple jump with a distance of 34-10, while Alex Neville won the 800 meters with a time of 2:23. Attleboro won the 4x100 relay with a time of 52.2 seconds and captured the 4x400 relay with a time of 4:17:50. The Bombardiers completed the dual-meet campaign with a 7-1 overall record and 3-1 mark in the league. Sarah Harris and Aislynn Sherry were each a part of three first-place performances as clinched at least a share of the South Coast Conference dual-meet championship with a 109-26 win over New Bedford Voke in a conference meet. Harris captured the long jump with a distance of 14-61/2 and won the 100 meters with a time of 13.1 seconds. She was also a member of the victorious 4x100 relay team, which ran a time of 55.9 seconds. Sherry won the javelin with a distance of 100-1 and the 200 meters with a time of 27.4 seconds. She was also part of the winning 4x400 relay team (4:28). Sarah Lagasse finished in first place in the high jump with a height of 4-10 as well as in the 400 meters with a time of 63.9 seconds. The Falcons, now 7-0, can clinch the SCC outright dual-meet crown when they face Apponequet in a league meet on Thursday. Jordan Spina placed in three events as defeat Wareham, 78-60, in a South Coast Conference meet. Spina won the 110 hurdles with a time of 17.7 seconds. She also finished in second in the 300 hurdles as well as the triple jump. Janelle Clarkson captured the high jump with a height of 5-1 and also placed second in the 110 hurdles for the Warriors. Cassie Teixeira won the shot put with a distance of 33-61/2, while Alicia Charpentier won the javelin with a throw of 112-2. Seekonk, now 6-1, will compete in the MSTCA State Relays on Saturday. In the Hockomock League, won its first meet of the season with a 77-59 decision over Canton. The Warriors broke open an otherwise nip-and-tuck meet by outscoring Canton 33-4 over a five-event span, which included two dominating relay wins and a 1-2-3 sweep in the javelin. Rahima Strouble was a double-winner for the Warriors as she took home firsts in the shot put (34-4) and discus (81-2). Kelsey Hellew helped out the Foxboro cause, winning the low hurdles (54.4) and taking second in the high hurdles. had another 1-2-3 sweep in the discus but that wasn't enough as Sharon won the Hockomock League meet 75-61. The Warriors, who finished up the dual-meet season 3-5, only allowed one point in the discus all season long, sweeping the event in seven of eight meets. Melissa Smith (83-2), Katie Kelleher and Charlotte Firth did the honors in the discus. KP also swept the javelin, Cathleen Ellen winning followed by Smith and Stephanie Fontana. Lauren Roche helped the KP cause as she took third in the 200.
