MANSFIELD - "It's not often that when you lose, you feel like you won," said Mansfield High boys' tennis coach Dan Etter after his Hornets lost a 3-2 decision to perennial Hockomock League power Sharon Wednesday.

The two doubles teams produced the victories for the Hornets. Jeremy Carroll and Jordan Sandberg improved to 12-2 at first doubles with a 7-6 (7-5 tiebreaker), 6-3 triumph over Sharon's Justin Collins and Jack Brodsky, who won the first meeting of the year by a 6-3, 6-1 score. Then in second doubles, Mansfield's Jeff Ivas and Ryan Chambers remained unbeaten at 13-0 by beating the Eagles' Andrew Levi and Paul Rosen, 4-6, 7-6 (7-1 tiebreaker) and 12-10 in a final-set super tiebreaker.

"There was some good tennis being played at Memorial Park," said Etter, whose Hornets (9-5, 7-5) visit Oliver Ames today.

(11-4) kept its winning ways alive with a 5-0 conquest of Stoughton in another Hockomock League match. Lucas DeForest and Sanjeeva Chetty each lost just two games in winning their respective No. 1 and 3 singles matches, while senior captain Matt Pereira lost just three games at No. 2 singles. The Rocketeers host Foxboro Friday.

returned to its winning ways with a 4-1 verdict over Oliver Ames in a Hockomock League match. Duncan Yarworth (12-5) lost just one game in taking his No. 1 singles match, while Harrison David lost just three at No. 3 singles. The Warriors (15-2, 12-2 league) will travel to Mansfield for a league match on Friday afternoon. Also in the Hockomock League, Ben Young of ran his personal record to 13-2 at No. 2 singles, but the Warriors fell to Franklin, 4-1. The Warriors (7-10) are at North Attleboro on Friday.

The Bombardiers (5-8) began a two-match in two days series with New Bedford, scoring a 4-1 victory over the Whalers. Senior captain James Bensson lost just one game in taking his No. 1 singles match, while Derek Goulet fired a shutout at No. 3 singles. AHS visits the Whalers today.

dropped a 3-2 decision to Medfield in Tri-Valley League play, but the No. 2 doubles team of Brian Kok and Zach Schleicher improved to 13-4 overall, using lobs effectively and playing aggressively at the net to take a 6-2, 6-2 victory over the Big Blue's Tom Shields and Matt Connolly. The tournament-bound Lancers (11-6, 7-6) visit Dover-Sherborn Friday.
