Top Headlines The MIAA Tournament-bound Warriors (10-6) received goals from James Saunders (his third, at 8:34) and Whalen (at 9:48) of the fourth period to pull into a 7-7 tie with the Hornets (5-11) and force extra time. In beating Mansfield for the first time ever, "the kids knew that they would have to play 48 minutes," said Foxboro coach Matt Noone, whose Warriors faced a 2-0 first quarter deficit and a 7-5 deficit entering the final 12 minutes. What undermined Mansfield were penalties as both Foxboro goals in the fourth quarter were created out of "man up" situations - the Hornets being assessed a major penalty for use of an illegal stick, in addition to an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty. "That's been the story of our season, it's all about penalties, we haven't been playing under control," said Mansfield coach Tim Frias. The Hornets took the lead on first period goals by Mike Morrill (at 6:54) and Kevin Coughlin (at 9:08). Mansfield broke a 4-4 halftime struggle with three third-period goals off the sticks of Mike Blanchette, Jon DiFlaminies and Doug Cockcroft. ![]() MARK STOCKWELLFoxboro’s Kristen Hoffman advances the ball vs. Mansfield.
